Job Title: Senior FAE EV Products



Key Responsibilities of the role

Job Duties

Work with both sales and Product Manager to identify prospective clients in EV space by utilizing existing contacts, knowledge and experience to promote Volex value proposition and pave the way for a business relationship and engagement. Work closely with customers to capture all relevant performance requirements, technical requirements and coordinate with Internal Engineering Teams to develop product level drawings and document to meet and exceed customer expectations. Work very closely with core engineering team to advise, guide, evaluate and contribute to design and development activity all the way from conceptual designs through to product realization and launch. Handle all direct technical engagement needed to support broader sales team on opportunity development to steer towards business win and sustaining technical support. Identify target customers and assess market potential and lead design & development of Volex EV products to fulfil opportunities. Own technical, commercial engagement while leading the customer and business relationship development. Collaborate and contribute technical expertise toward Volex roadmap development, deployment, and market diversification. Conduct, participate and lead periodic applications engineering training and orientation of global and regional sales teams to bring Volex internal teams up to speed on latest industry adoption of high-speed products and help to set strategic direction with respect to key selling strategies in new markets and technologies. Serve as direct FAE to support business opportunity development for broader sales teams. Lastly, evaluate core engineering talent and skill level and advise on upgrade recommendations where needed to keep up with competitive landscape. 15-20% travel in local San Francisco Bay area. Salary range: $140,000 - $160,000. Hours: 9 am – 5 pm.

Requirements

Requires, at minimum, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. Must have at least 8 years’ experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include the following: Deep product & application knowledge relevant to EV products like charging cables, connectors, and terminals; Expertise and understanding of relevant automotive standards like USCAR and SAE and experience utilizing these standards for EV products development and validation; Deep product & application knowledge relevant to datacenter connectors and high-speed cables and relevant industry standards and specifications E.g. IEEE specifications.; Ability to create, interpret, modify and communicate technical 2D drawings and 3D parametric CAD models using CAD software’s (PTC CREO/ Solidworks); Ability to interpret and create FEA simulations (ANSYS) as required for product functionality analysis.; Good understanding of EV vehicle architecture Technical engagement with the customer on EV products involving charging cables and build to print products involving wire harnesses, electromechanical products, charging cables and connectors, high speed cables and related performance parameters like current carrying capacity, thermal considerations, and signal integrity; Expertise in understanding competitive landscape, key strengths of the company, product and market differentiation, customers, and their supply chains to formulate product/process proposition. Ability to interface well - with all levels of personal/management at the customer and internal organization.; Ability to work with inter-regional teams and time zones; Ability to lead customer engineering and project meetings on NPI projects as a technical customer engineer; Lead the project internally within the company and meet customer deliverables in a timely manner; Experience with VA/VE, Root Cause analysis (RCA), Electrical testing set-ups and results interpretations and failure resolution activities as required on EV products like high voltage/ high speed electrical connectors and terminals, charging cables and wire harnesses; Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects that run simultaneously while working individually and a team environment; Experience with manual, auto and semi-auto production lines in Mexico; Provide engineering support for activities related to additional manufacturing capacity tooling, tool transfers, scrap reduction, design improvements and support on product quality; Experience with engineering involvement and support to ensure smooth launch and transition of products into the production plant; Identify opportunities and devise plans for implementation of cost saving ideas to provide design and/or manufacturing process advantage.
